Just Start Somewhere
To a certain extent, perhaps we are all striving towards a ‘purpose’ of some sort. Many of us want to start a new business, step out and do our ‘own thing’ or maybe move overseas. We dream and then we wait. We wait for the ‘right time’, for [insert blank] to sort itself out or perhaps, we wait for ‘a sign’. There’s nothing wrong with being rational and pondering big decisions as long as we don’t get stuck in the waiting.
I was challenged when reading Bob Goff’s, ‘Love Does’. In this beautifully written book, Bob writes about how we don’t need a business plan to love people, we don’t need to have it all figured out to lend a helping hand. He essentially say, love does. Love doesn’t sit around and wait for the right time.
It got me thinking, how often do we hold off on big decisions waiting for the ideal opportunity? We are in the habit of passing over the responsibility and waiting to be told which way to go but more and more I’ve felt convicted to take the wheel, make my own decisions based on what I know and trust that He is faithful in that.
So my daily thought today is asking whether we can be bold enough to step out and make some big decisions… and just begin? Just start and see what happens. Take the first step of faith even if the boats rocking.
