My 2016 Goals

2015: You have been an absolute dream!

I couldn’t be happier to be ending the year as I started it, in Cape Town. Looking back just 12 months, I can’t believe how much has changed. How? Mainly because I just started to say, “F**k it! Why not? Why can’t I do that? Why shouldn’t I just pack my bags and go?”

This year I decided to do what I dreamt of and let life take me wherever the hell it likes. I found the less I planned (I’m a bit of a planner) and the more I accepted what was and went with it, the happier I became. Lets face it, things rarely go to plan and the sooner we accept it, the better. That doesn’t mean giving up when things don’t go the way you had hoped, it just means accepting that things won’t always happen as you expect them too.

So, as the year draws to a close, I thought I’d share some of my goals for 2016:

Be more spontaneous. Granted, it may not be the most practical of goals, but it’s the most fun.

Stop thinking too much. Sometimes, the less you think and the more you follow your gut, the better choices you’ll make.

Make more time for the people I care about. It’s so easy to get caught up in day to day work and forget about everyone else.

Train harder!

Get excited to wake up and start every new day. How awesome would it be to go to bed every night and look forward to the day ahead. Why can’t this be possible? Next year it’s time to either change the situation or have a change of attitude.

Explore more! Of my own city, of other cities, of other continents and other cultures. Just get out and explore our surroundings.

Support Unogwaja and complete Comrades, an Ultra Marathon in Durban.

Start living for what we preach. It’s easy to write a Facebook post about how much I hate this and that but if I’m not prepared to get up and make a change it’s meaningless.

Eat more vegetables.

Stop thinking of tomorrow, start living for today. Still have plenty of goals and things to work towards but enjoy what I’m doing today rather than wishing for tomorrow.

Already I am hugely excited for what’s ahead. I’m definitely going to be doing a lot more travelling and I can’t wait to share all my adventures with you. If you have any suggestions of potential destinations, let me know! There is also talks of teaming up with a brand new clothing brand which I’ll tell you more about really soon.

Next year will be a real juggling act while I attempt to blog, work, train… oh and study but I’m super excited to see how it goes. We are all juggling a bunch of different commitments but if we can make the most of the time we’ve got, you’ll be surprised how much we can still do.

If there’s just one thing to take from 2015 it would be this: follow your dreams. Make the sacrifices or live with the regrets.
